New life for historic granite in inner Copenhagen: Laser cleaning on Chr. d. IX’s gade
In the heart of Copenhagen, on the elegant Chr. d. IX’s gade, we recently completed an exciting project that beautifully combines modern technology with respect for historic architecture. The task was to clean the impressive granite facades, adorned with striking arcades, from years of accumulated dirt and unwanted plinth paint.
Imagine the massive granite stones that have stood the test of time in the bustling city for decades. Unfortunately, previous generations of pollution and layers of plinth paint had dulled their natural beauty and hidden the fine details of the stone. This is where innovative laser technology came into its own.
With precision and efficiency, the laser gently removed the unwanted layers from the granite. It is fascinating to witness how even stubborn paint and years of dirt disappear without a trace under the laser beams and how the clean, natural granite gradually reappears.
